The Costume

Friday, October 30, 2026

Four-panel comic. Panel 1, titled "The Costume": the living room, a carved pumpkin on the floor. Nick holds a jack-o'-lantern candy pail. The robot wears a homemade costume: a crooked orange cardboard box over its head, painted with one big eye, one small one and a zigzag mouth, a bent coat-hanger antenna, and a handwritten $19.99 tag taped on. Nick: "What are you supposed to be?" Panel 2: the robot: "Something scary." Panel 3: the robot: "Hello! I have already merged all your pull requests." Panel 4: Nick screams, eyes wide, candy flying and the pail dropped; the robot's painted face doesn't change.
